A cool new Extreme model, the Alpina Alpiner Extreme Skeleton Automatic, with an open-worked dial. Or better, there is no dial. Only a navy blue or mineral grey flange with white minute track and applied indexes. Which makes it possible for the wearer to admire the movement that is running inside.
Which is the Alpina caliber AL-520, an adjusted Sellita caliber SW200-1 S(keleton) a, b or c. Where “a” means a rhodium version, and “b” or “c” an anthracite ruthenium version. All three come in different grades, from basic to fantastic or tailor made. It’s unclear which option Alpina has chosen but it looks like the rhodium version, and it’s pretty nice.
The Alpina Alpiner Extreme Skeleton Automatic has a power reserve of 38 hours
The SW200-1 is used in hundreds of watches, it’s a proven three-hander automatic, here with a power reserve of 38 hours. The blue Alpina Alpiner Extreme Skeleton Automatic comes on a blue rubber strap, the grey one has a stainless steel bracelet. Which is about 300 more expensive.
Both versions can withstand rough conditions and are water resistant up to 200 meters / 660 feet. And the good thing is, the movement is not only visible on the dial side but also at the back.
