Alpina’s pilot series of watches gets a new quartz model: the Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Worldtimer. It comes in three different colors and displays the prevailing hour in one of the 24 time zones. An ideal feature for pilots and travelers.

It is housed in a 41-millimeter stainless steel case and has either a sunray black, green or navy blue dial. The dial is divided into three concentric sections. The first section, in the center, shows the hours, minutes and date, with luminous Arabic numerals and luminous hands. There is also a clean railway-design minute track for precise timing. An often used feature that is inspired by pilot watches from the 1920s and 1930s.

The second section is a 24-hour disc with a day/night indication. The version with a black dial has a blue zone for the night and a red zone for daytime, The green dial version shows a green and off-white day/night indication and the blue dial version shows it in blue and off-white.

The battery of the Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Worldtimer lasts for about 45 months

The third section has all the 24 world time zones with the most prominent city in that zone highlighted. Except for the zone where Paris is normally the main city; Paris has been replaced by Geneva as that’s where Alpina Watches has its headquarters. The red-tipped GMT hand marks the time in the selected time zone and you can operate this zone by the crown located at the 4 o’clock position. The regular crown for adjusting the time and date is at the 2 o’clock position.

The Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Worldtimer is equipped with a quartz movement with a battery life of 45 months. The case back is from stainless steel and the water resistance is 100 meters / 330 feet.

The black dial version comes on a black calf leather strap, the other two versions have a three-link stainless steel bracelet.
