The Arnold & Son DSTB 42 Platinum & Red Gold are the latest DSTB’s since its original launch in 2014. DSTB means ‘’Dial Side True Beat” also known as a deadbeat mechanism or deadbeat escapement. To keep it short, it means that there is no recoil and the escapement is different which makes the seconds hand move step by step. So, it is beating instead of a smooth run that is normally the case with mechanic (automatic) watches. The platinum version is limited to 38 pieces, the red gold is limited to 88 pieces only.

As the ‘42’ in the name reveals, they both have a 42-millimeter cases, with a thickness of 12.95 millimeters. The platinum version displays a dial with rose-gold PVD treatment, which makes it salmon colored. The red gold version features a blue PVD-treated dial. Both dials are sunray-brushed and have a white opal sub dial for the time. And then there is the true-beat seconds parts that claims a huge parts of the dial. It has a unique open-worked outlook with three dedicated bridges, gears and one large seconds hand.

The Arnold & Son DSTB 42 Platinum & Red Gold have a power reserve of 55 hours

Inside these DSTB’s 42 is the new automatic Arnold & Son caliber A&S6203. The main plate has a palladium finish, with Côtes de Genève stripes radiating from the center. The oscillating weight is 22-carat gold and the true-beat seconds mechanism has 18-carat gold polished and chamfered bridges. All visible through the transparent case back. The power reserve is 55 hours.

Both watches come on a blue handstitched alligator leather strap, secured with a platinum or red gold pin buckle.
