Three new references for the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 41 mm, which brings the total of variants on 19 different pieces. 11 variants in 41 millimeters and 7 variants in 37 millimeters. So far. The three new ones either have a stainless steel, black ceramic, or yellow gold case. And the first two have a pink-gold toned finish on the movement, the gold one has anthracite finish.
Stainless steel is not new for the Double Balance Wheel Openworked, however in the combination with a pink-gold toned movement it is. The same goes for the black ceramic version. Yellow gold isn’t new as well, but the two existing yellow gold models have a gem-set bezel, the new one has a plain bezel.
Contrasting movements for these skeletonized Royal Oaks
Behind the glare-proofed sapphire lays a pink gold or anthracite grey inner bezel with luminescent hour markers. The rest of the dial is fully open-worked offering a great view on the movement. It looks like a common hours-minutes-seconds execution but it features a patented mechanism for more precision.
Which is the double balance wheel, launched by AP in 2016, with two balance wheels and two hairsprings assembled on the same axis. They oscillate in perfect synchrony and it’s partly visible from the front and the back. Same for the gear train, partly visible under the open-worked bridges.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 41 mm has a power reserve of 45 hours
The automatic Audemars Piguet caliber 3132, in pink-gold or anthracite, has a power reserve of 45 hours. The oscillating weight is also open-worked, and executed in steel (steel version), pink gold (ceramic version) or yellow gold (gold version).
These Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 41 mm versions come on a bracelet that matches the case, in the same material. All secured with an AP folding clasp. The case back is from the same material as the case, with sapphire, except for the ceramic version. That model has a case back from titanium with sapphire. That model is also limited to 150 pieces, the other two models are not limited.
