Ever since its introduction in 1993, the Royal Oak Offshore has been a tremendous success for Audemars Piguet. The sportier version of the Gérald Genta designed classic, the Royal Oak, has become one of the main hallmarks and bestsellers of AP. The newest edition is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph Selfwinding.

AP introduces four new boutique editions in stainless steel. One in blue, limited to 15 pieces and three editions in either yellow, green or orange. Each one those is limited to 3 pieces.

Inside we find a selfwinding tourbillon chronograph. The tourbillon chronograph in itself is nothing new for Audemars Piguet. They introduced the Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph in 2010, but with a hand-wound movement.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph Selfwinding is the ultimate beach watch

These four iterations are powered by AP’s high-end selfwinding AP 2897 caliber. The same movement as in the earlier introduced gold version with white dial (not limited, reference 26540OR.OO.A010CA.01). Also worth mentioning is AP’s iconic mega-tapisserie dial and the sapphire inner bezel, as well as the open-worked movement at 1 o’clock. Subtle design features.

It is a pity that the two chronograph windows at 3 and 9 o’clock are a bit too small for our tastes. The tourbillon compensates pretty well, which is visible via the front and an unobstructed view through the open sapphire crystal case back compensates.

The four limited edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph Selfwinding are only available through Audemars Piguet boutiques.
