Three new models in the Classima series with the Baume & Mercier Classima 42 mm Quartz. All with a slim stainless steel case that has ADLC coating, meaning Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon. A kind of DLC+, incredibly hard, often approaching the hardness of diamond.

This black case is combined with a sun satin-finished opaline green, sand or blue dial with line decor. Each one has a different flange color for the minute track: green, slate or black. These are paired with black or rhodium-plated leaf-shaped hands that point to Roman numerals.

Inside the Baume & Mercier Classima 42 mm Quartz is, like the name reveals, a quartz movement. It’s an ETA caliber F06.115, an entry level two-hander with a date. Which is a bit disappointing when you look at the price of the watch. This ETA quartz costs about 60 dollars / euros when bought new, which makes overall price of this Classima model a bit too high. Let’s say two times, if you want to leave room for some marketing.

Even the Holland & Sherry straps with dial matching line decors cannot compensate the price. H&S is a London based (Savile Row) company for luxurious fibers and fabric qualities, who make the fabric straps for these Classima’s. It would be good if B&M just changes the movement for an automatic Sellita caliber SW200 or something comparable. Yes, the watch would become thicker, but it’s a way better match with the brand’s heritage.
