The Baume & Mercier Riviera Aurélien Giraud Special Edition is a collaboration with the French world champion skateboarder Aurélien Giraud. Although it is not really clear what Giraud’s role was, the result is a very black Riviera. The same shapes and movement as the Baume & Mercier Riviera 10716 for example, however with a screwed bezel and different hands.
For those who are less familiar with the Riviera, it’s named after the French coastal line, and was already launched in 1973. It sports a dodecagonal case and/or bezel, so it’s 12-sided. This execution has a sapphire dial with a pattern of waves. Hour and minute hands and hour markers are luminescent, the central seconds hand is red with the Phi sign as counterweight. The logo of Baume & Mercier. And at 3 o’clock there is a date aperture.
The Baume & Mercier Riviera Aurélien Giraud Special Edition has a power reserve of 120 hours
Inside is the automatic Baume & Mercier caliber Baumatic BM13-1975A with a massive power reserve of 120 hours. It has beaded-finish bridges and a sand-blasted and snailed baseplate. The oscillating weight is open-worked and has Côtes de Genève and snailed decorations.
On the back of the Baume & Mercier Riviera Aurélien Giraud Special Edition is an engraving with the logo of Aurélien Giraud and the limited number of the piece. Which is 100, referring to the perfect score of a run at an official skateboard competition. The watch comes on a black rubber with Alcantara strap with white overstitching. Fastened by a sand-blasted ADLC-coated steel triple folding buckle with security push-pieces.
