The Bell & Ross BR-X5 Blue Lum, a limited edition of 500 pieces, brings a fresh perspective to luminescent materials for a watch. Known for its robust, professional-grade timepieces, Bell & Ross has combined advanced luminescence with a strong material design in the BR-X5 line.

This model follows the BR-X5 Green Lum, extending the luminescent experience to a blue variation that aligns with Bell & Ross’s consistent research in the field. And the cool part is that the luminescent material is not only on the hands and indexes but on the whole case. That’s what we call disco.

Special luminescent multi-layer case

Key design elements of the BR-X5 Blue Lum focus on luminescence and durability. Using LM3D, a composite of quartz fibers and luminescent material, Bell & Ross has crafted a 41-millimeter case that emits a steady blue glow in low-light conditions.

Its multi-layer construction alternates between LM3D, a photoluminescent composite material, and black DLC micro-blasted grade 2 titanium. The container that houses the movement is carved from a block of titanium. This is inserted between two shields shaped in LM3D, emitting a powerful blue luminescence.

Matt black dial

The watch’s dial features a matte black finish for clear contrast against the luminescent elements. Its skeletonized hour and minute hands are filled with super-luminova, enhancing readability in any light condition.

A date window at 3 o’clock and a three-day power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock add functional layers. Its sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating preserves legibility.

Key features of the Bell & Ross BR-X5 Blue Lum

  • Perfectly readable in low-light conditions
  • Light titanium case
  • Large power reserve indicator
  • COSC certified movement
  • Exhibition case back

The BR-X5 has a power reserve of 70 hours

At the core of this BR-X5 Blue Lum is the Bell & Ross caliber BR-CAL.323, a manufacture movement that supports around 70 hours of power reserve. Certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), this high-performance movement includes a variable inertia balance and a quick date adjustment feature.

Designed specifically for Bell & Ross, the oscillating weight takes inspiration from sports car rims, combining aesthetic inspiration with functional reliability. The case back is fitted with a smoked grey sapphire crystal, adding an open view of the movement.

Price tag of the Blue Lum model

An open-worked black rubber strap with a steel DLC-coated folding buckle complements the watch. This strap material obviously aligns with the model’s utilitarian purpose, offering flexibility and durability.

Priced around 12 to 14k, the BR-X5 Blue Lum sits within the competitive mid-to-high luxury segment. Comparable models with similar luminescent materials and precision movements may be priced slightly higher. But this positions the BR-X5 Blue Lum as an option for those interested in technical innovation without excessive cost. The limited-edition production run and design details also add a collectible factor to this model within the Bell & Ross lineup.
