Pininfarina is a legendary designer of cars. They have been responsible for a number of iconic cars for brands as diverse as Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Peugeot. Another partnership has been with watch company Bovet since 2010. And this Bovet Ottantasei Flying Tourbillon Blue and Bronze Edition is the latest result of that collaboration.
Originally the Ottantasei Tourbillon was presented in 2016. The watch from the Pininfarina collection instantly drew admiration from even the most demanding collectors.
When Pascal Raffy, Bovet’s CEO and watch collector himself, issued the specifications for this timepiece, his desire was to create a tourbillon that bore all the visual hallmarks of the now legendary Ottanta tourbillon. With practically perfect dimensions and proportions, but with the typical touch of Pininfarina.
Both the Bovet Ottantasei Flying Tourbillon Blue and Bronze edition are limited to 86 pieces
The Bovet watchmakers joined forces with the designers from Pininfarina in Turin to produce the Bovet Ottantasei Flying Tourbillon which impressive ergonomics. And a patented flying tourbillon that offers a 10-day power-reserve driven by a single barrel.
Bovet Ottantasei Flying Tourbillon Blue and Bronze Edition are limited editions of the existing Ottantasei Flying Tourbillon. One with a titanium with blue case, the other one with bronze PVD case. The titanium is grade 5 titanium, which is extra light. The weight of the case is just 15.54 grams.
Combined with the open-worked movement the flying tourbillon can be seen via the sapphire glass on both the front and back of the watch. The model is pretty modern for Bovet and in a market which showcases the most extreme tourbillons, the link with Pininfarina results in this. A spectacular watch that distinguishes itself just enough to stand out without straying too far from Bovet’s own style.
