The Breguet Marine Chronograph 5529 is the second chronograph in the current Marine collection, this time with a bezel full of gems. The first chronograph is the 5527 and has the same size and same movement, however it is available in 15 variants. Mainly different dial designs and colors, and different straps, with a case in titanium or gold. This new 5529 comes with two different straps (leather or rubber) in a case in either white gold or rose gold.

Let’s look at the gems because that is the main attraction of this model. There are 8 baguette-cut diamonds on the dial functioning as hour markers. And there are 90 baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel. And the good thing is: it doesn’t make the timepiece too shiny. In other words: it’s still a subtle presence.

Hand-engraved gold dial

The dial is from gold, colored in blue and then hand-engraved on a rose engine to create a guilloche wave pattern in the center. Around the center is a ring that is horizontally brushed with 4 Roman numerals and 8 diamond for the hour markers. And the outer ring of the dial is vertically brushed and adorned with dots to form a minute track.

The small seconds are on a sub dial at the 9 o’clock position and a little smaller than the two other sub dials. At 3 a 30-minutes totalizer and at 6 a 12-hours totalizer. Between the 4 and 5 o’clock position is a trapezium-shaped date aperture.

The Breguet Marine Chronograph 5529 has a power reserve of 48 hours

This 5529 is driven by the Breguet caliber 582 QA, which is an updated caliber 582 with a date complication, based on the Lemania caliber 1350. The 582 QA has silicon escapement horns and a balance spring of silicon as well, all for more durability and accuracy. The power reserve is 48 hours. The case back is sapphire so you can see the movement with its rudder-shaped rhodium-plated gold oscillating weight coated with black DLC.

The Breguet Marine Chronograph 5529 is available on a lined blue rubber strap or a blue leather strap. The triple-blade folding clasp has the same material as the case, white gold or rose gold.
