The civilian version of the military Type 20 becomes even more civilian with this Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 Gold. As this precious metal would not be used by any army in the world, although when we think about that we have some doubts. However, this new XX meets a demand for more exclusive models based on vintage watches.
The original Type XX pilot watch dates from the 1953, when Breguet “converted” the Type 20 to a civilian model. Already in 1955, the brand creates a gold Type XX (reference no. 1780) limited to 3 pieces. One of these belongs to the Breguet museum now.
Former ref. 3800 generation in gold
In the 1990s the brand released their third generation of the Type XX, the reference 3800, which also holds gold versions. The yellow gold reference 3800BA (limited to 150 pieces) and the rose gold reference 3800BR for instance.
Apart from gold even a platinum ref. 3800PT appeared on the market. And later, a few other gold versions would follow as well.
New generation Type XX
In 2023 the brand launches the fourth generation of the Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067, together with the Breguet Type 20 Chronograph 2057. Both in stainless steel. So, a new Type XX and a new Type 20 from which the Type 20 is still in the catalogue, the Type XX in stainless steel is not. It’s unclear if the new gold version replaces the steel one, but all the specs are the same.
Thus, a 15-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position, a 12-hour counter at 6 and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Furthermore, Arabic numerals, a date window squeezed between 4 and 5 o’clock and a fluted, graduated bezel. Which is from rose gold, bidirectional and with a blue ceramic inlay.
The Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 Gold has a power reserve of 60 hours
Inside the 42-millimeter rose gold case is the automatic Breguet caliber 728 with a power reserve of 60 hours. It is equipped with a flyback chronograph with a vertical clutch mechanism and a cross-through bridge to hold the balance wheel in place. The oscillating weight is from blackened gold and shaped like an aircraft wing and engraved with the Breguet logo.
The Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2067 Gold comes with two straps. A midnight blue alligator leather strap with 18K gold pin buckle and an additional midnight blue NATO strap with white piping and 18K gold pin buckle. They are interchangeable without tools.
