A G-Shock collaboration with professional basketball player Rui Hachimura gives us this Casio G-Shock GBM-2100RH-1A Rui Hachimura. It’s already the fourth collab between the 6 ft 8 in / 2.03 m Japanese and Los Angeles Lakers player and this time with a gold toned dial.
The watch has some cool references to basketball. At the dial you can see a basketball court motif, and the black and red LCD is inspired by the game’s 24-second shot clock. The 49.3 mm × 44.4 mm case is from bio-based resin / stainless steel, and yes, it’s huge. The watch offers a broad variety of functions and can be connected to a smartphone with Bluetooth.
The Casio G-Shock GBM-2100RH-1A Rui Hachimura runs on the solar powered caliber 5729
The movement of the Casio G-Shock GBM-2100RH-1A Rui Hachimura is the Casio caliber 5729, a quartz powered by light. Fully charged it has a battery life of about 7 months, and if you use the power-safe mode, when you are not wearing it for a longer period for instance, it keeps the time for about 2.5 years.
The Rui Hachimura G-Shock comes on a bio-based resin strap with a gold colored pin buckle. Which has Hachimura’s “logo” on it: 八. It’s Japanese for “eight”, which is “hachi” in Japanese. Although he wears a jersey with “28” the 8 is representing his name in Japanese (maybe also coming from his birthdate: the 8th of February 1998). And this sign is crossed by a Japanese sword which gives the letter “H”, for “Hachimura”. His signature is on the yellow-gold ion plating case back.
