A new color for the smaller DS-1, this is the Certina DS-1 38 mm Automatic Blue-Gold. The blue is a bright hue with horizontal sunray finish paired with gold-colored hands and indexes. A dress watch that adds some sparkle to the usually less bright colored ones.

The size of this stainless steel model is 38 millimeters, as the name reveals, with a thickness 10.34 millimeters. At the flange of the blue sunray dial is a black minute/second track, and at the 3 o’clock position is a date indication.

The movement of this Certina DS-1 Blue-Gold is the ETA caliber Powermatic 80.611. It is ETA’s follow up of the ETA caliber 2824-2 with a Nivachron balance spring, a titanium based alloy. Where the 2824 has a frequency of 4 Hz, this 80.611 thicks at 3 Hz, combined with technical updates leading to a power reserve of a massive 80 hours.
