Another Certina diver with a 1970s design, this is the Certina DS Super PH1000M STC. It’s basically exactly the same model as the 2023 Certina DS Super PH1000M. However, the new one has a direct link with Sea Turtle Conservancy, in short STC. So that’s added to the name. But of course, there is a little more.
The main change is the color. Where the 2023 model comes in orange or black with a black bezel, the new one comes in blue. According to the specs. We see a bit of green as well. Anyway, this color is also used on the aluminium inlay of the unidirectional bezel.

The color of the logo of the Florida-based Sea Turtle Conservancy has this blue-with-green-ish color, and that’s the reason why Certina used it for the dial. STC started in 1959, the same year Certina launched their DS concept with a turtle as symbol. Since 2017 Certina sponsors the work of STC as well.
To keep this DS Super PH1000M in line with the other models, the hands and markers have the same design, in orange and white. And with luminescent material of course. The bezel has no luminescent material, while the aforementioned black and yellow versions have a triangle on the bezel with super-luminova.
The Certina DS Super PH1000M STC has a power reserve of 80 hours
Like most hours-minutes-seconds-Certina’s (here with a date as well) the watch runs on the automatic ETA Powermatic 80.611, It has a Nivachron balance spring and a power reserve of 80 hours. Thanks to the case construction and the helium outlet valve this stainless steel 43.50 x 42-millimeter diver can withstand 100 ATM / 100 bar.
The Certina DS Super PH1000M STC comes on a black rubber strap with orange stitches and a steel pin buckle. The logo of the Sea Turtle Conservancy is engraved on the steel case back.
