Chopard is the official timekeeper and sponsor of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique since 2002. Therefor they launch special editions each year to honor that great event. If you like the smell of petrol and barking exhausts of wonderful classic racing cars. This year’s model is the Chopard Grand Prix De Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition.

The new G.P.M.H. comes as a titanium with steel version (500 pieces) and an 18-carat rose gold version (100 pieces). Both with leather or NATO strap. The case measures 44.5 millimeters and contain a COSC certified self-winding movement. That Chopard-finished ETA 7750, an automatic chronograph, beats at 4Hz, and has a power reserve of 46 hours.

The Chopard Grand Prix De Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition is limited to 600 pieces

The piston-inspired chronograph pushers are sophisticated and so is the tachymeter bezel and three-register 12-hour chronograph display. Although all the Chopard G.P.M.H. editions are largely similar this new one is more refined. But we are still a fan of the bold yellow/black scheme used at the previous edition. The rose gold version of the Chopard Grand Prix De Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition is the more classic one, the titanium with steel version looks more modern with retro hints, especially with the fabric strap in complementary colors.

But to be a real racing driver wear the ones with leather strap (black barenia calfskin). Its perforations saves you weight in your car which makes you go faster. Lots faster.
