The Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Limited Edition is a re-issue of the original L.U.C 1860 launched in 1996. That 1996 model celebrated the fact that this was the first timepiece produced by the Chopard Manufacture. The L.U.C designation is a tribute to Chopard’s founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard. He founded the Swiss brand in 1860, which explains the 1860 in its name.

The original L.U.C 1860 was an ultra-thin timepiece with a very classic and distinctive design. The new L.U.C XPS 1860 series follows this signature. The design of the dial changed just slightly whereas the hands are more modern and bolder than the original.

100 pieces are made of the Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Limited Edition

The Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Limited Edition is only 7.2 millimeters thin; the case has a diameter of 40 millimeters. Apart from this Limited Edition (100 pieces) there is also a more affordable stainless steel version.

The main differences between these two models are the case material and the caliber. This Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Limited Edition comes in 18k rose gold, the other model, as mentioned, in stainless steel. The Limited Edition has Chopard’s L.U.C 96.01-L caliber, the first caliber by Chopard Manufacture. The stainless steel version, which is not a limited edition, has the L.U.C 96.03-L caliber. This is a more ‘simplified’ version of the 96.01-L, still guaranteeing Chopard’s outstanding quality. Both calibers have the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark that certifies the quality of its construction and finishing.

The central part is hand-guilloché (engine-turned) with a radiating wave pattern and solid gold indexes are applied. And take a look at the case band with its vertical brushing. Chopard has created another magnificent hand finished dress watch. Did you know that Chopard was founded as L.U.C manufacturing company in 1860? Here you can read more about the history of Chopard
