Citizen is expanding the Promaster series with this Citizen Promaster NB6025-59H Black Fujitsubo. It’s another affordable diving watch from this well-known series as for around 1k you will get an automatic titanium diver. Which is a pretty fair deal.

The name Fujitsubo is Japanese for ‘barnacle’, which is a marine crustacean with an external shell that attaches itself permanently to a variety of surfaces. So, this is the crusty stuff you will find on a shell on the beach, or on a sunken boat. Basically, on every hard object that has been under water for a long time. Just like an old Citizen Challenge Diver, a model that was found in 1983 on the Long Reef Beach in Australia after being submerged in the Pacific Ocean. The cool thing is that it was still working, so they donated it to the Citizen Museum in Tokyo.

The Citizen Promaster NB6025-59H Black Fujitsubo is from hardened titanium to make it even more scratch resistant

Back to the Citizen Promaster NB6025-59H Black Fujitsubo: it has a 41-millimeter super titanium case with Duratect DLC. This is an extreme scratch resistance Diamond Like Coating, developed by Citizen to harden ‘normal’ titanium even more. Citizen calls the process Duratect and the result Super Titanium.

Inside the watch is the Citizen caliber 9051 delivering a power reserve of 42 hours. The screw-down crown and titanium case back make sure the watch can withstand 20 bar. Enough for a few dives to look for more fujitsubo on lost objects.
