If you do not work for Dallara or have a Dallara Stradale car, this Eberhard & Co. Contograf Dallara is not for you. It’s limited to just 50 pieces and only available for Dallara’s staff and customers, but hey, maybe you know one of them. Cause it might be worth persuading them to sell one to you, as it looks pretty good.

It is a self-winding mechanical chronograph celebrating Dallara, the renowned automotive engineering company. And the model continues the legacy of the Contograf line, with a quick-set large date display and a telephone timing indicator. Which was used to monitor the duration of telephone calls. As in the old days, many phone calls were billed based on duration, often in increments of 3 or 5 minutes. The Contograf shows steps of 3 minutes on its chronograph minute counter.

Origins of the Contograf and Dallara Partnership

Eberhard & Co. first launched the Contograf in the 1960s, marking a new direction for chronograph functionality. The model introduced features tailored to everyday utility, including the aforementioned telephone timing indicator. Furthermore a tachymeter scale for speed calculation, here with red 50 (for average speed) and a design catering to professional needs.

This limited-edition release celebrates Eberhard & Co.’s ongoing relationship with Dallara, whose expertise spans race car engineering and high-performance road vehicles. The collaboration builds on shared milestones, such as the Dallara Stradale’s debut in 2017, a supercar blending lightweight design with road-legal performance.

Details of the Contograf Dallara

The Contograf Dallara measures 42 millimeters in diameter and 14.7 millimeters in thickness, with a robust stainless steel case. The unidirectional rotating bezel features a black ceramic insert, engraved with hour markings and palladium-treated detailing. Its steel construction enhances durability, while the engraved triangle at 12 o’clock adds functional precision.

The black dial incorporates yellow counters, reflecting Dallara’s signature color. The 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock retains the original’s telephone timing indicator, offering a nod to the past. Meanwhile, a continuous small seconds counter at 9 o’clock provides a balanced aesthetic. The date display at 6 o’clock features a trapezoidal shape with red numerals, framed by an applied border, maintaining the iconic 1960s design.
