Edox’s Chronorally 45 series is well-established as a line inspired by motorsport. Focusing on robust designs and precision timing functions with quartz movements. This limited edition adds a new chapter to the Chronorally story, honoring the achievements of Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the 2024 Superbike World Champion.

Design Is Not New

The watch features a 45-millimeter titanium case, with a thickness of 15 millimeters. The dial’s layout emphasizes functionality, with a link to motorsport as the setup looks like the cockpit of a bike. The two sub dials together with the day of the week indication form a white bike-style dashboard on a carbon-looking background. Just like the earlier released Edox Chronorally 45 from this year.

With the recognizable oversized push buttons, you can adjust and operate the watch quickly and accurately. The chronograph functions include a tachymeter for measuring speed and a 1/10^th of a second chronograph for precision timing. The big date can be found at the 6 o’clock position.

Movement Is a Ronda Quartz

This Edox Chronorally 45 Limited Edition uses the Edox caliber 38s, a quartz movement from Ronda (the 8020.N). It’s a more rare family member of the Ronda caliber 8040.N which is almost the same movement but with running seconds at 6 as an extra. Used in this Edox Chronorally Limited Edition Sauber F1 Team for instance, where Edox calls it the caliber 38.

We do not know why the brand uses both movements for the same styled watch, and we would always prefer the 8040.N / caliber 38 due to the extra small seconds. And on Ronda’s website, the 8020 is not easily findable anymore.

Strap Options in BMW Motorsport Colors

Each Chronorally 45 Limited Edition comes with four additional rubber straps inspired by the BMW Motorsport aesthetic. The standard strap is black, the additional straps are in the colors of the BMW Motorsport division: red, white, and two shades of blue. Although the official BMW M division colors are blue (reflecting the Bavarian region in Germany where the company has its origins), red (for “passion and performance”), and purple (a mix of the two other colors that underline BMW’s identity with motorsport).

A strap-changing tool is included, of course, allowing you to switch between straps effortlessly. And you can store all four extra rubber straps in the collector’s box the watch comes in.

The Edox Chronorally 45 BMW Motorrad Motorsport Limited Edition has a retail price of 1.890 euros, which is approximately 2,000 US dollars or 1,600 British pounds. Its combination of titanium construction, limited edition exclusivity, and motorsport-inspired features places it in competition with brands like Oris and TAG Heuer.

They offer quartz movements and automatic movements in the motorsport segment, but the automatics have another price tag. Given the price of around 2k for a quartz we would suggest spending some extra money on an automatic. But if you are a fan of BMW bikes or BMW Motorrad Motorsport you don’t want to miss this limited edition.
