F.P. Journe introduces the F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu Furtif for Only Watch 2023, engaging with this event for the fifth time. As all watches for Only Watch it is a one-off and can only be enjoyed by the owner.
The case and bracelet are a world premiere as they are both made from tantalum. This is a very hard metal, highly corrosion resistant, and has a blue-grey color. The case is 42 millimeters and bears a translucent blue grand feu enamel dial with matt numerals and matt blue hour and minute hands. Which makes it hard to read the time. But that’s on purpose.
The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu Furtif for Only Watch 2023 has two complications on the back side
It explains the name Furtif – French for furtive, which can mean “stealthy”. Just like this time piece. You can only read the time by moving the watch under a certain light reflection to get a clear view on the time. In order not to disturb this (lack of) viewability, FP moved two other complications to the back of the watch: the moon phase and the power reserve indicator.
The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu Furtif for Only Watch 2023 is equipped with a new hand-wound caliber, the 1522. It is mainly executed in 18k rose gold, has direct central seconds, and a power reserve of 56 hours.
