Restarting an old brand for the third or fourth time isn’t easy, even when you create this very good looking vintage-style Favre Leuba Sea Sky Chronograph. The first press release does not provide any reference numbers, and only very few photos of the new models. (But we’re working on it.) Luckily the specifications are complete enough to provide some essential information. O, and the brand’s name is now written as Favre Leuba instead of Favre-Leuba.
The brand is one of the oldest in the world, although they cheat a little with the founding date (read the history of Favre-Leuba), but they are struggling since the 1980s. Change of ownership, new models, again new owners, new models, and so on. So, let’s hope this time they succeed, as a brand with this heritage deserves to be successful.
Five new models, this vintage Sea Sky Chronograph is the best looking
The vintage part of this tri-compax model is the sunburst dial combined with eggshell colored sub dials and old radium luminova. The ribbed ceramic bezel with countdown scale adds even more vintage style and the tachymeter and telemeter scale at the flange of the dial strengthens the whole picture even more. In our opinion the best looking model of the set of 22 new references. Which will follow on this site as well.
At the 3 o’clock position is a 30-minute counter, also with countdown scale, at 6 o’clock a 12-hour totalizer and at 9 are the small seconds. The angle-cut and rhodium-plated broad arrow-style hour and minute hands enhance the readability, and these also have the cool old radium luminova.
The Favre Leuba Sea Sky Chronograph has a power reserve of 60 hours
The movement of the Favre Leuba Sea Sky Chronograph is the La Joux-Perret caliber L112 version A022. Which means top grade, the most decorated one of four options for this automatic. It has circular graining, Côtes de Genève stripes, and sunburst patterns. And the gold-plated oscillating weight has the Favre Leuba hourglass emblem, engraved with ‘Swiss made since 1737’. And for those who don’t know La Joux-Perret, it is a Citizen Group-owned Swiss movement manufacturer.
This Sea Sky Chronograph comes on a dial matching leather strap, so in black, blue or brown. It is secured with a steel pin buckle with logo. The price is in line with these kinds of chronographs although pretty serious for a restarter.
