The Girard-Perregaux La Esmeralda Tourbillon ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition Honey is a new release in the Bridges Collection, continuing the legacy of the 1889 pocket watch La Esmeralda. This limited edition of 18 pieces is a tribute to the craftsmanship and artistry that the brand has honed over the centuries.

The design of La Esmeralda draws inspiration from the 19th-century original, specifically its engraved gold case and the iconic three bridges. Which Constant Girard first introduced in his quest for chronometric excellence. More about him and the start of the company can be read in the article about the history of Girard-Perregaux.

Honey tones and gold

This new edition features honey-toned grand feu enamel, a sort of baked layers following traditional techniques. This is mixed with an intricately engraved 43-millimeter pink gold case. The sunray and circular guilloché patterns on the dial are applied by hand using traditional techniques. Which enhances the watch’s visual depth and playing with light.

The hands of this rather baroque design are Dauphine-style, also made from pink gold. The case back reveals a fluted pattern and features an engraved scene of three galloping horses. This pink gold honey-color enameled cover protects the sapphire crystal underneath it. A construction to pay homage to the 1889 pocket watch.

The Girard-Perregaux La Esmeralda Tourbillon has a power reserve of 50 hours

At the heart of the La Esmeralda Tourbillon is the Girard-Perregaux caliber GP09600-2083, developed in-house. This self-winding movement features the signature tourbillon with three gold bridges. A design first patented in 1884. The tourbillon is visible on the dial, showcasing the intricate mechanics that regulate timekeeping.

This movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 50 hours. This ensures precise and consistent performance, supported by the innovative micro-rotor hidden beneath the barrel. The bridges are polished and engraved, with golden details and refined finishes.

The Girard-Perregaux La Esmeralda Tourbillon comes with a hand-stitched brown calfskin strap with an alligator lining. It is secured by an engraved pink gold triple folding buckle. Additionally, the timepiece is delivered with a complementary black alligator strap.

Priced at CHF 428,000, the La Esmeralda Tourbillon ‘A Secret’ Eternity Edition Honey is positioned at the high end of the luxury watch market. The model is limited to 18 pieces only.
