The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light & Shade and Light & watches are the latest models of the Laureato series. This series was already launched in 1975 and evolved from dress watches to highly complicated models. Like these two new ones that are skeletonized. The Light & Fire, executed with red details is limited to 18 pieces.

One, the Light & Shade is housed in a 44-millimeter metallized sapphire crystal case. The Light & Fire has a case from polycrystalline material named YAG. Basically the same, but with more variety of dark shades. Both cases have black PVD-treated titanium as well. The Light & Shade displays grey/metal color touches while the Light & Fire shows translucent red tones. This to mark the advent of the Chinese New Year. The bezels have the traditional octagonal shape, and just below the bezel appears a three-dimensional ring. The ring is sitting between the bezel and the movement. Followed by an open-worked dial with rhodium-plated skeletonized hour and minute hands with luminous effect.

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light & Shade and Light & Fire have a power reserve of 54 hours

These sapphire cases are made by using the kyropoulos growth method. This technique converts alumina powder into a solid block of sapphire crystal, where it will take eight weeks for it to be processed. Then it is cut into pieces which are put into a machine to form the bezel, case and case back. After this those parts get a metallization treatment and the result is not only a mesmerizing look, but it is also very light.

Inside the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light & Shade and Light & Fire is a skeletonized automatic Girard-Perregaux caliber GP01800-1143. It has an open-worked gold oscillating weight so you can see the bridges below. And it features a variable-inertia balance for more stability and shock resistance. The power reserve is 54 hours.
