The Glashütte Original PanoLunarInverse Platinum Moonphase Limited Edition offers a unique perspective on traditional watchmaking. By inverting its movement, it showcases intricate mechanics on the dial side, providing enthusiasts with a direct view of its inner workings. This approach not only highlights the brand’s technical prowess but also appeals to those who appreciate mechanical artistry.
Belonging to the Pano collection, the tongue-breaking PanoLunarInverse emphasizes asymmetrical design and innovative mechanics. This collection stands out for its off-center displays and complex complications, reflecting Glashütte Original’s commitment to blending form and function. The PanoLunarInverse, in particular, introduces a moon phase complication to the inverted movement design, marking a first for the brand.
What can you see from the inverted movement?
This PanoLunarInverse features a platinum case measuring 42 millimeters in diameter and 12.46 millimeters in thickness. Its polished and satin-brushed surfaces offer a subtle contrast, enhancing its visual appeal.
In the right bottom corner, the dial presents a black rhodium-plated. On top of that the balance bridge with dual swan-neck fine adjustment and adorned with intricate guilloché patterns. This provides a textured backdrop to the exposed movement components. Then there is the movement’s three-quarter plate, also with guilloché patterns, that serves as the main dial.
Key features of the Glashütte Original PanoLunarInverse Platinum Moonphase Limited Edition
- Large moon phase
- Movement on display at dial side
- Big (panorama) date
- Platinum case
- Guilloché patterned movement plate
- Exhibition case back
Large moon phase within the time sub dial
At two o’clock a big (panorama) date, and off-centered is the running time with a black hour and minute flange. Within that raised sub dial is the moon phase complication, a starry sky made of aventurine glass, with the renewed sparkling effects.
The moon is laser-engraved with a relief to reflect craters and mountains. A cut-out section of the dial manages the moon phase itself by covering the moon to show the actual moon phase. Just under the moon phase are the small seconds running on its own sub dial, partly integrated into the sub dial of the running time.
This PanoLunarInverse Moonphase has a power reserve of 45 hours
At the heart of the PanoLunarInverse Platinum Moonphase lies the automatic Glashütte caliber 91-04. This movement offers a 45-hour power reserve. GO uses traditional finishing techniques, such as perlage and blued screws, further enhancing the aesthetics of the movement.
The watch comes with a grey Louisiana alligator nubuck leather strap, secured by a platinum folding clasp. You can also order it with a blue synthetic strap.
Pricing of the limited Glashutte Original PanoLunarInverse Platinum Moonphase
Priced at 42 to 46k this PanoLunarInverse positions itself in the high-end segment of luxury watches. Comparable models might be from A. Lange & Söhne, which offer a unique digital time display. A more subtle dress watch-styled comparable model might be the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon.
While these watches offer different complications and designs, they share a focus on showcasing mechanical innovation and craftsmanship. The inverted movement design and moon phase complication sets this PanoLunarInverse more apart in the luxury watch market.
