The H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Retrograde Seconds has a fascinating way of showing the seconds. A display, at the 6 o’clock position, that shows the seconds in 30 steps before resetting itself back to zero for another round of 30 seconds. A so called retrograde mechanism, here “driven” by a double snail cam on a silver-molded skeletonized bridge.
In order to know in which cycle of the 30-second steps the time is showing, there is a two-tone disc beneath the snail. This disc indicates whether the watch is in the first or second 30-second period of the cycle.

Midnight blue dial
The dial of this almost 44-millimeter stainless steel Pioneer is executed in midnight blue fumé with a sunburst pattern. The brand’s logo is printed in a transparent lacquer and the leaf-shaped hour and minute hands are filled with super-luminova.
Furthermore, it has faceted applique indices, all with dots that are also under the retrograde seconds. Which has an open-worked background with a dark grey color.

The H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Retrograde Seconds has a power reserve of 72 hours
The movement of the H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Retrograde Seconds is the H. Moser & Cie. caliber HMC 250. Which is an automatic based on the H. Moser & Cie. Caliber HMC 201, now with a retrograde module from Agenthor SA. A company specialized in retrograde mechanisms, among other mechanisms.
The movement has an bi-directional pawl winding system and engraved oscillating weight, anthracite finish and partially skeletonized bridges. The power reserve is 72 hours. This Pioneer comes on a hand-stitched alligator leather, rubber, or textile strap or steel bracelet
