After the Titanium and All Black version Hublot launches the Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 Magic Gold. Of course, it is limited, 200 pieces this time. Magic gold is a fusion of 24-carat gold and ceramic with scratch-resistant 18-carat gold as a result. The scratch-resistance is unique as gold can be a little bit vulnerable. This patented process was developed five years ago by Hublot in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne).

Mixing 24-carat gold with ceramic creates an extreme hardness of almost 1000 Vickers. Standard 18-carat gold can reach 400 on the Vickers hardness scale and the most hardened steels reach up to 600 Vickers. This makes the Hublot magic gold the hardest gold in the world. In fact, it is so hard only diamond can machine it.

The Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 Magic Gold offers a power-reserve of 10 days

Another great thing about this watch is its power-reserve. The Hublot caliber HUB1201 uses two parallel barrels in order to supply a power reserve of 10 days. The matt black skeletonized dial offers a clear view on the manual-winding movement.

You’ll see the regulating organ at the 7 o’clock position is paired with the small seconds on sub dial at 9. At 6 you’ll see the power-reserve indicator. The case measures 45 millimeters but the watch is not as massive as you might think. Nevertheless, there is no small Hublot.
