More colorful watches than the Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 Street Art do not exist. We think. These four versions have a design inspired by street-art painting. The turquoise version is called Retro Fusion, the green Jungle, the bleu-ish Oceanic Fusion and the last multi-colored one is called Galaxy. Looking at the bright and sparkling mix of colors the names make sense.
The size of the case is 44 millimeters, from mat-finished composite concrete case with rough unpolished surfaces. Same for the bezel. The brand added a bio-based epoxy resin to the composite to ensure it is completely solid and enhanced it with graphene. This carbon-based material strengthens the composite by a further 15% to 20%.
How do you get graffiti on a watch?
The use of this epoxy is intentional as for the graffiti artist to deliver his art efficiently onto the watch. This street artist is Saiff Vasarhelyi, who painted these models with the use of stencil and airbrush. Even he was amazed by the outcome, according to Hublot.
The colors look like a wild splash, applied carefully from the open-worked dial to the case and bezel, down to the strap. By hand. Using this technique also means that none of each single version is the same.
The Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 Street Art has a power reserve of 240 hours
Visible through its open dial is the automatic Hublot caliber HUB1201 delivering an impressive power reserve of 240 hours. It not only drives the hours, minutes and seconds but also indicates the power reserve. Visible on the front at the 6 o’clock position.
This Meca-10 Street Art comes on a Velcro fastener fabric with street art painting. It is secured with a micro-blasted black ceramic sport buckle. You will also get an additional black lined rubber strap with a black ceramic and black titanium deployant buckle. Which has no splashes of paint. Each model is limited to 10 pieces and only available in North America.
