Like all the other Spirit of Bang Bangs in titanium, ceramic or King Gold, this watch also has a barrel or tonneau shaped case. Quite a large case at 45 millimeters in diameter and 15.10 millimeters thick. Yet, this Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire has something extra. But you already noticed.
The Sapphire part in the name is taken to the extreme with four blocks of sapphire hold together with titanium screws. The result is a transparent vision of the watch that Hublot has perfected with the MP-05 ‘LaFerrari’ Sapphire and the Big Bang Unico Sapphire.
The skeletonized HUB4700 movement and the construction of The Spirit of Bang is all shown within the sapphire glass. Transparent is spectacular, but this makes it easy to see marks or minute imperfections within. Hublot had to develop a new machine and new processes to offer an optimal finish of all the parts.
The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire is as hard as diamond
After about 100 hours the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire is as hard and as scratch-resistant as diamond. The only ‘visible’ elements that remain are the crown, pushers, case screws, the 6 H-shaped screws of the bezel and the deployant buckle clasp, cut from titanium, and the components of the movement.
In addition to the chronograph we also see a date between 4 and 5 o’clock. The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sapphire comes with a transparent structured lined rubber strap with a titanium buckle and is limited to 250 pieces.
