HYT has introduced the S1 Titanium Japan Limited Edition, marking the pre-launch of its upcoming permanent S1 collection. This exclusive edition consists of only eight pieces, showcasing HYT’s innovation in hydromechanical timepieces. The S1 series, as the name suggests, focuses on sports watches, offering a bold design and advanced technical features.
This S1 Titanium features a 45-millimeter titanium case with a satin finish and an open-worked dial that puts the hydromechanical caliber on full display. This movement powers the retrograde fluidic hours, a signature feature of HYT watches. The model has a monochromatic aesthetic, blending silver tones with black liquid to indicate the hours.
How does the hydromechanical caliber work?
The watch’s hydromechanical caliber consists of two bellows made from an alloy thinner than human hair. These bellows are 10,000 times more watertight than a typical dive watch, and the fluid movement within the bellows powers the time display.
The black liquid inside a fine glass capillary tube moves as time progresses, marking the retrograde hours. When it reaches the 12-hour mark, it returns to its original position. The dial’s honeycomb flange features Arabic numerals for the hours, while an inner ring shows the minute track.
The HYT S1 Titanium Japan Limited Edition has a power reserve of 72 hours
Inside the HYT S1 Titanium Japan Limited Edition runs the HYT caliber 501-CM. A finely sand-blasted and satin-finished hand winder with silver coating, comprised of 352 parts. It offers a 72-hour power reserve. As said, the hours are indicated by fluid, however, the minutes, small seconds, and power reserve indicator use black gold hands. All with white super-luminova accents to ensure optimum readability.
The case measures 45.3 x 46.3 millimeters with a thickness of 17.2 millimeters. Large, however, HYT has engineered the watch to provide comfort during extended wear, despite these dimensions. The angular strap positioning adds to the ergonomic design, while the lightweight titanium case ensures it doesn’t feel heavy.
The watch comes with two strap options: a light gray Velcro strap with a loop buckle and a black rubber strap equipped with a pin buckle. The model is limited to 8 pieces only with a price tag of around 52 to 68k.
