The HYT S1 Titanium TimeForArt 2024 is a one-of-a-kind watch created for the TimeForArt auction. This event is dedicated to supporting contemporary art and artists, with all proceeds going toward exhibitions and programs. The auction is on December 7th, 2024, as part of The Phillips New York Watch Auction

This S1 Titanium, with its hydromechanical design, is a unique blend of engineering and artistic craftsmanship. Its fluidic time display sets it apart from traditional timepieces, marking HYT’s innovative approach to watchmaking since its founding in 2012. The TimeForArt 2024 edition offers a dark, minimalist aesthetic, contrasting with the more traditional appearance of earlier models. Although it shares a lot with this HYT S1 Titanium Japan Limited Edition.

HYT’s retrograde fluidic hour display

The S1 Titanium TimeForArt 2024 features a 45.3-millimeter black-coated titanium case. The watch’s case is 17.2 millimeters thick, making it a substantial piece on the wrist. It has a black-coated brass dial and rhodium-plated appliques.

However, the most striking feature of this timepiece is its retrograde fluidic hour display, using black fluid in a capillary tube to indicate the passage of time. The minutes are shown by a central hand, and the overall design is emphasized with a black honeycomb flange.

The HYT S1 Titanium TimeForArt 2024 has a power reserve of 72 hours

Powering the S1 Titanium is the HYT caliber 501-CM, a hand-wound movement. It offers a 72-hour power reserve, which allows the watch to run for three days when fully wound. The movement itself is a feat of engineering, with fine sandblasted and satin finishes, all with a contemporary black coating.

The movement operates the fluidic hour system through two flexible bellows that compress and expand, moving the liquid through a capillary tube. This unique mechanism, inspired by ancient clepsydras, has earned HYT recognition within the watchmaking industry. The display resets every 12 hours, with the black fluid retreating in a retrograde motion, a visually captivating feature.

Estimated price for the S1 Titanium TimeForArt 2024

The watch comes with two strap options: a black rubber strap and a black Velcro strap. A quick-release system allows you to easily switch between the two. The straps fasten with a pin buckle made from black-coated titanium, which matches the watch’s case.

Its estimated price, or auction minimum, is around CHF 62,000, so the high-end category.
