The HYT T1 Series Titanium and Gold looks like a normal watch at first sight, something you would not expect from the brand. If you take a look at their line-up, partly here, you can see huge, mushroom-like models with rather strange dials. It all has to do with what’s inside: a pumping mechanism to make colored fluids move around in tubes that tell the time. Yes, it is a bit weird, but very cool.

Luckily the tech with fluids is still here, however packed in a rather conventional way. The brand itself calls the new model more compact but it is still pretty large with a size of 45.3 x 46.3 mm millimeters. Well, it’s compact compared to the other bold HYT models. The case comes in titanium or gold 5N, for now, and has an octagonal shape with facetted sides. The dial is plain for a HYT, not open-worked as they usually do.

Fluids around the dial

The T1 has a colored brass dial in either silver, slate, salmon or blue (for the gold version). At the location where you normally find hour or minute tracks this model shows a borosilicate capillary tube with black fluid to indicate the hours. The minutes are indicated with a large central hand and between the 2 and 3 o’clock position there is a power reserve indicator.

The looks are still special without being too special. It’s almost a regular classy dress watch until you look closer. Which can be part of the fun to own one. And just flip it over to look at the mechanics if you want.

The HYT T1 Series Titanium and Gold has a power reserve of 72 hours

The fluids and hands are driven by the hand-wound HYT caliber 501-CM with a power reserve of 72 hours. It is finely sand-blasted and satin-finished, with a black and silver coating. Through a rather ingenious process the movement pushes fluid through the borosilicate capillary tube while driving the central minutes hand and taking care of the power reserve indicator.

The HYT T1 Series Titanium and Gold models will be delivered with two rubber straps, each with their own buckle. The basic color is black, the second strap has a case/dial matching color. Of course, these straps are easily interchangeable.
