For every year since 2006, IWC produces a special Laureus edition of which a part of the proceeds go to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Laureus being a name that is synonymous with social change and development through sports projects. This year it is the IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
The Laureus Foundation helps children and young people who are socially disadvantaged because of mental or physical handicaps or live in difficult family circumstances.
This years limited edition is based on IWC’s most important new line: the Da Vinci. The IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is the result. A 42-millimeter stainless steel flyback chronograph powered by the IWC 89361 movement with a power-reserve of 68 hours. And with a lay-out that is pretty similar to the IWC Portugieser Chronograph.
The IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is limited to 1200 pieces
It comes with a blue dial and a black alligator leather strap made by Santoni (famous for its exclusive Italian leather shoes). Like the other Da Vinci’s, the Chronograph Edition Laureus Sport for Good Foundation also has IWC’s new moving horns with curved lugs so the Santoni strap has a good fit on the wrist.
This Da Vinci is limited to 1200 pieces. On the case back there is an engraving from the winner of an annual children’s drawing competition within the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects. The winner for this edition is the 12-year old Hou Ye from Shanghai. Despite a mental handicap, he participates passionately in the Special Olympics Asia.
