The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport is one out of four new IWC models in the Ingenieur collection, the only model that is limited (500 pieces). The new Ingenieur collection feature the following models:
The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 mm;
The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph;
This IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport;
And the IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month.
Design inspiration comes from the first Ingenieur model that was introduced in 1955 with the reference 666. A small three-hand dress watch with a clear, subtle dial. The new Automatic shows a direct design link, the other models not that much. Only the rather thick bezel reminds us of the IWC Ingenieur ref. 666 from the 1950s.
The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport is protected against magnetic field
IWC’s caliber 89361 drives this Ingenieur providing a power reserve of 68 hours. The movement sits within a soft-iron inner case to protect it from magnetic fields. IWC reminds you of that by the lightning bolt small seconds hand at 6 o’clock.
The flyback chronograph only has one subdial, for the chronograph minutes. The 44-millimeter case is from grade 5 titanium and the sportiest one of the new collection. And the only one showing the Ingenieur logo on the dial.
