The most complicated model within the new IWC Ingenieur collection so far is this IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month. (To be honest, we expect a tourbillon later this year.)

This watch is one of four new IWC Ingenieur models. The range starts with a basic one: the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 mm. Then there is the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph, and the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Sport. All models have a date indication, this IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month as well, however a little bit more comprehensive.

The IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month features four month/date discs

In 1884 IWC produced its first digital watches, where digital means a two-digit display, mechanically driven. Those so called Pallweber watches display the hours and minutes using numerals. The seconds are shown in analogue form with a hand. The digital part of the IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month is in the date and month display. Behind both displays are four discs, two for each, for the digits of the month and date.

IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month features IWC’s caliber 89800 with perpetual calendar and flyback chronograph. The perpetual calendar automatically recognizes the different lengths of the months, including the leap day occurring every four years.

Like most of these more complicated watches it is a limited edition: just 100 pieces.
