The IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer Automatic Edition “Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau” is a tribute to the French scuba diver Cousteau. The first IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer appeared on the market in 1967 and in 2014 it got a restyle. Now three new IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer models are introduced, this model is one of those. The other two are the IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “La Cumbre Volcano” and the IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer Automatic 2000.

This diver, with a diameter of 42 millimeters, is a tribute to Jacques-Yves Cousteau (born June 11, 1910, deceased on June 25, 1997), the famous French explorer and researcher who explored the World seas. IWC have released earlier models tributing to the French explorer, which clearly indicates that the Swiss manufacturer grant him an important role when it comes to divers.

The dial of the IWC Schaffhausen Aquatimer Automatic Edition “Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau” is deep blue. The back is engraved with a portrait of Cousteau. The movement of the watch is the automatic 30120 caliber with a power reserve of 42 hours, the watch itself is water resistant to 30 bar.

The numbers, pointers, and internal diver ring are finished with a glow in the dark coating. This model also has IWC’s Safe Dive System: a bezel which can be operated with divers gloves to set the internal diver ring.
