The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire Stainless Steel is a new iteration of the Duometre series. The brand originally released the Duometre in 2007, all with two independent barrels and two independent gear trains linked with a single escapement. A technical solution that can be found in a Jaeger or LeCoultre pocket watch from 1881 (they did not work together then), of course modernized in their current models.

The model looks like the 2016 Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Quantième Lunaire Magnetite Grey, but the new one has some updates. It seems that the hand-wound movement, the Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 381, is slightly changed. In the Magnetite Grey mentioned above it has 375 components, according to the press release from 2016. The press release from this new blue Quantieme Lunaire talks about 374 components, and the specs of this movement on the website of JLC talks about 414 components. Whatever is right, it remains a technical masterpiece.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire Stainless Steel has a power reserve of 50 hours for each barrel

Not only the movement changed (apparently), also the case has grown a bit, with 0.5 millimeters to 42.5 millimeters. The time is indicated at 2 o’clock, the jumping seconds in 1/6th of a second at 6 o’clock and the rounded-date indicator with a moon phase inside is at 9 o’clock. And there is a large central seconds hand. There are two power reserve indicators that lie on each side of the jumping seconds sub dial. It all combines subtly with the blue opaline dial within the stainless steel case.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Quantieme Lunaire Stainless Steel comes on a blue alligator strap with a stainless steel double folding buckle. We expect a gold version in the near future, and a platinum as well, so have some patience if that is what you like. Or go for this new Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon in pink gold or platinum.
