The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948 Green Dial is a variant of the white gold / blue dial 2022 version. A world timer with an orbiting tourbillon, this time on a green enamel dial with a pink gold case. This new green model is limited to 20 pieces, just like the blue model with reference Q52834E1.

This timepiece combines a world timer function with a flying tourbillon, that makes a complete turn every 24 hours. It has a stationary 24-hour ring on the edge of the dial, and the depicted map of the Earth including the city ring rotates. Which enables you to see the time for every time zone. Just set your home time first as the reference time and then set a second time by moving the hour hand – which jumps in one-hour steps – to the city you are in or nearby.

Detailed and hand-crafted dial

With the North Pole as a starting point for the view, Jaeger-LeCoultre created a detailed map of the world, including the oceans. It is miniature painted using champlevé enamel techniques, a special way of layered painting made on the pink gold structure of the dial. This structure is clearly visible in the background and represents the longitudes and latitudes of the world map.

For the oceans they used guilloché in a wavy pattern, creating movement. To obtain this, 15 layers of blue-green translucent lacquer are used. All by all a delicate process of hours and hours in order to create a rather magical dial that turns in the rhythm like the Earth does around the Sun.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 948 was the first world-time complication united with a flying tourbillon. Its turning tourbillon completes a full turn on the dial every 24 hours, corresponding to the length of a mean solar day. The automatic movement has a power reserve of 48 hours.
