When Jaquet Droz comes to mind it is more often than not the exquisite enamel pieces or the automata watches. The Grande Seconde Quantième is a bit overlooked. With the new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed, the brand tries to put the dress watch in the spotlight once again.

The original Grande Seconde Quantième was introduced in 2011, the new Satin-brushed edition is a bit more modern. What has stayed are the two off-center dials – the ‘figure eight’. The hours and minutes are in the smaller sub-dial on top of the dial. The seconds and pointer-type date display can be found on the larger bottom sub-dial.

The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed comes in 39 or 43 millimeters

This well-known silhouette is now displayed on a dial featuring a sunray finish, which helps capture and diffuse rays of light. Thus, creating a nice effect without affecting the legibility too much. Two shades are available: anthracite, equipped with clean hands in rhodium-plated steel, and gray, with hands in blued steel.

The watch is powered by the Jaquet Droz caliber 2660Q2.P. In order to guarantee reliability, the balance spring and pallet horns of the self-winding movement have been made with silicon. With great flexibility, silicon is a material that is stable over time and can withstand shocks and variations in temperature, pressure and magnetic fields. Something that is integrated into the calibers of better watch brands on the market.

The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième Satin-Brushed comes on a gray or brown alligator leather strap and has its serial number engraved on the open sapphire case back. Each version is available with a diameter of 39 or 43 millimeters. We would say – if your wrist is not too hefty – go for the 39 millimeters. To truly adhere to the more traditional dress watch proportions. Watch the video below the technical data for a good impression.
