Drop the name Jaquet Droz and what springs to mind are elegant and complicated watches. Full of artisanal craftsmanship. But sports watches, not so much. That may change with the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW.
In all honesty the SW is a collection that has existed since 2008 and stands for – not really original – Sports Watch. The collection has evolved into something heftier and rugged, especially noticeable in this new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW.
All in all, it is more of an update with four variations. Two steel versions with a textile or steel bracelet. And a steel/pink gold combo with a textile or a two-tone steel and pink gold bracelet.
The Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW has a diameter of 45 millimeters
Crafted with three partially open worked links evoking the lugs’ design, the steel bracelets feature screws that echo those of the case. This while the materials have a sporty look thanks to rubber, found on the overmolding of the winding crown, and a super-luminova coating on the tips of the hands.
The watch is powered by the Jaquet Droz caliber 2663A.Si-S. It is an automatic movement with a silicon balance spring, double barrel and an 18-karat white gold oscillating weight. Similar yet different, but all around the Grande Seconde SW is a more refined and sleeker result. One that makes the watch up-to-date for a few more years.
Other Grande Seconde models, the more classic ones, can be found here.
