There is more steel than gold on the new Longines Spirit Flyback Steel/Gold, a cool vintage styled chronograph with a diameter of 42 millimeters. The case is from stainless steel, only the bezel cap and the crown plus pushers are from gold. And we know the model already, we’ll come back to that at the end.
This execution of the Spirit comes in two colors. The green one has 2N 18 ct yellow gold accents, the brown one has 5N 18 ct rose gold accents. Both bezels have a ceramic inlay with old radium-like super-luminova and come either in green or brown. The matt dial is also either green or brown. And the gold-plated hands, also yellow or rose gold, have this old radium luminova as well.
The Longines Spirit Flyback Steel/Gold has a power reserve of 68 hours
The movement of the Longines Spirit Flyback Steel/Gold is the automatic Longines caliber L791.4 with a power reserve of 68 hours. It has a silicon balance-spring, is magnetism resistant and COSC certified. It’s probably one of the better flyback column-wheel chronographs on the market. A nice detail is that the oscillating weight is from gold, matching the gold details of the watch. So, in yellow or rose gold, engraved with a globe which is the emblem of the Longines Spirit collection.
Both models come on a shaded matt leather strap in the color of the dial and bezel. And both with a double-security folding clasp and pushers. If you’re not a fan of these gold touches, take a look at the stainless steel Longines Spirit Flyback Chronograph 42 mm. All the same however in steel, and with more color options. And in our humble opinion this Longines Spirit Flyback Titanium is the best looking one. On a NATO strap of course…
