The La Sportive collection is renamed to the zip code of LE’s founding place leading to this Louis Erard 2300 Sport Chronograph. As the Swiss zip code for La Chaux-de-Fonds where Louis Erard was founded in 1929 is 2300. So, maybe their next new line will be named “2340”, the zip code of their current headquarters in Le Noirmont, Switzerland. And there is more mathematics.

The 2300 model comes in 3 versions, with a price of 3,333 Swiss francs and limited to 99 pieces each. “Numbered in multiples of 3”, according to the brand. It’s a good thing the heart of this number-loving piece is just a classic familiar mechanical movement. But first the outside.

Tri-compax chronograph that looks like a bi-compax chronograph

The 44-millimeter case is from grade 5 titanium, with a bezel with black ceramic insert and tachymeter scale. The dial is matt in either black, light blue or khaki green with a color matching minute track on the flange. The black has a rainbow colored transfer, the blue version white, and the green version orange.

The small seconds counter has the same color as the dial, which is why this tri-compax chronograph looks like a bi-compax chronograph. As the 30-minute totalizer (with “first 5-minutes” indication for the blue and green one) at the 12 o’clock position and the 12-hour totalizer at 3 have a silver background color. The central chronograph seconds hand is either rhodium colored, matt yellow or matt orange. The dial layout, the colors and colorful and cool details create attractive and clear overall looks.

The movement of the Louis Erard 2300 Sport Chronograph is the renewed ETA/Valjoux caliber 7750 with a power reserve of 48 hours. A movement that has its roots in a 1940s chronograph and since then evolved into a modern, reliable caliber. The version Louis Erard uses is the élaboré grade, which means the quality of parts and finish is pretty nice. (There is also a top grade, and even a COSC grade.)

These 2300’s come on a black, blue or khaki rubber strap, depending on the dial you choose. Close it with the titanium folding clasp and if you want to change the straps, they have functional catch spring bars enabling the strap to be changed quickly. The price tag of these new Louis Erard 2300 Sport Chronograph models is between 3 and 4k which is fair for a titanium chronograph with a 7750 inside.
