This Louis Erard Le Regulateur Grand Feu Enamel is another regulator from the Swiss brand and will certainly not be the last. The principle of showing the time with each hand on a different position on the dial is one of their trademarks. Recently the Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset Le Regulateur was released for instance, with the same movement.
This new regulator shows the hours on a sub dial at the 12 o’clock position and the minutes are shown at the center. At the 6 o’clock position is a sub dial with the seconds. Each hand has its own pivot, driven by the automatic Sellita caliber SW266-1, part of the SW200 series. This movement also offers a date but this is not used by Louis Erard on this watch. The movement has a power reserve of 38 hours.

The dial has an ivory color, is lightly speckled and made from enamel. This material is a mix of minerals that are extensively heated (“Grand Feu” is French for a big fire) so that it fuses into glass. A delicate process with several layers that needs to be fired-up repeatedly to get a smooth and equal surface.
Moreover, the inscriptions on the dial are also made from enamel, fusing two colors together in the last stage of heating. Enameling is such a special skill that Louis Erard has outsourced it to Donzé Cadrans. A Swiss company owned by Ulysse Nardin (check this Ulysse Nardin Classico Dog done by them) that also works for other watchmakers.
The Louis Erard Le Regulateur Grand Feu Enamel comes on a Grey grained calf leather bracelet with tone-on-tone stitching. It closes with a polished stainless steel pin buckle with ergot bars for easy strap swapping. The watch is limited to 99 pieces.
