A new regulator joins the permanent collection, this is the Louis Erard Introduces Le Régulateur Gravé Noir. The model joins the Noirmont Métiers d’Art line with a so-called sector dial design, a dial marked by straight lines that create “sectors” or segments. The design takes inspiration from 1930s watchmaking, and it is not a coincidence the brand started making regulator watches in 1929.

The Le Régulateur Gravé Noir sits in the new Noirmont collection, which replaces the Excellence line. The Noirmont collection splits into three segments: classic models, Métiers d’Art pieces, and X collaborations. The name Noirmont connects to the brand’s home since 1992 in the Swiss Jura region.

Vertical display of time indicators

The polished stainless steel case measures 39 millimeters across and 12.82 millimeters in height. The dial is black and has a finely grained finish with rose gold-plated indexes and numerals. Its sector patterns are engraved (Gravé) and create clear time segments.

It is a regulator, so each hand has its own axis. Here the hours are on top, the minutes are in the central, and the seconds are at the 6 o’clock position. The fir tree hands have rose gold plating, matching the colors of the sector engravings and also the crown design.

Regulator movement from Sellita

The movement of the Louis Erard Le Régulateur Gravé is the Sellita caliber SW266-1. An automatic that is a family member of the Sellita caliber SW200-1. It comes standard with a date indication (and quick date setting) however, in most, if not all Louis Erard models the date has been left out.

Sellita communicates a power reserve of 41 hours for this caliber, Louis Erard keeps it at “approximately 38 hours”. The movement shows detailed finishing through the see-through case back.

This watch comes on a beige grained calf leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching. A black grained calf leather lining adds structure, and it is closed by a polished stainless steel pin buckle. Quick-release spring bars make strap changes simple.

The price tag of this Louis Erard Le Régulateur Gravé is around 2.6 to 3.3k which is in line with other regulators on the market.
