With a new Louis Moinet Impulsion now there are three models available of the time piece that has a mono-pusher chronograph and a tourbillon. The name Impulsion refers to the fact that the watch’ energy is boosted to both the chronograph and tourbillon.

There is also an historical aspect here. Louis Moinet was friends with Abraham-Louis Breguet in the early 1800s. Both are very important in the history of watchmaking as Breguet is recognized as the inventor of the tourbillon. And Moinet as the inventor of the chronograph. Although George Graham created a rudimentary version of the chronograph before Moinet was born. But let’s take a look at these three Impulsion models.

There is a blue version with an aventurine main plate, a blue version with orange main plate and lastly a black main plate version. The 42.5-millimeter case is 18k pink gold and inside is grade 5 titanium to protect the movement. The open-worked dial shows all the tech bits and nice contrast between the colored main plate, titanium and pink gold.

The Louis Moinet Impulsion has a power reserve of 96 hours

Inside is a hand-wound Louis Moinet caliber LM114 which is revealed through its transparent sapphire case back as well. The power reserve is an impressive 96 hours due to two barrels. Moinet uses a ”volte-face” double spring barrel: two barrels arranged upside down in series releasing their energy at the same time.

The Louis Moinet Impulsion comes on a blue or black alligator leather strap secured with a folding clasp. The orange version, also named the Artist’s Proof version, is limited to 3 pieces and already sold-out. The black and blue version are limited to 28 pieces each.
