The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Chronograph 44 mm Titanium is a new chronograph in the Aikon series. Which can be recognized by the six bold raised polished rider tabs on the bezel at every 10-minute position. And this new titanium version comes with two very bright colors.
The first has a purple dial with silver sub dials, the second has a gold-colored dial with black sub dials. Our first though was that they would both match perfectly with our 1980s ties as these colors tend to breath that period. Paired with the darker steel-ish looks of sand-blasted titanium, here with a 44-millimeter case, it’s a good matching mix.
Traditional chronograph/day-date layout
The layout of the embossed and sunray-brushed dial is a typical chronograph/day-date one with the latter at the 3 o’clock position. At 12 is the chronograph’s 30-minute counter, at 6 it counts up to 12 hours and at 9 are the small seconds.
Hands and indexes are rhodium plated and only the hour and minute hands have (white) super-luminova. ML’s logo at the 2 o’clock position is also rhodium plated. The case back is from titanium as well and has a sapphire middle part, creating an overall thickness of 15 millimeters. The water resistance is very good with 200 meters / 660 feet. Although you should always check these “diver” values and never operate the chronograph anywhere even near water.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Chronograph 44 mm Titanium has a power reserve of 48 hours
The movement of the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Chronograph 44 mm Titanium is the Maurice Lacroix caliber ML112. An automatic that is probably based on the ETA/Valjoux caliber 7750. The ML caliber has circular-graining, vertical Côtes de Genève on the bridges and rotor, and a power reserve of 48 hours.
This Aikon comes on a titanium 5-row bracelet with easy change system and a titanium folding clasp. The titanium Aikon is also available as a classic three-hander with a date, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 42 mm Titanium. With a purple or grey dial with Clous de Paris motif.
