The MB&F HM8 (Horological Machine 8) is MB&F’s offer for the Only Watch auction in Geneva. And because of that it is a unique piece.
MB&F therefore offers a special MB&F No. 8, engraved and metallized with a whimsical drawing created by the talented Cassandra Legendre. She is a 15-year old ballet student from Spain. Her design incorporates childhood objects like a robot, jet plane, toy car and ice cream amongst others.
Visible under the illustration, the automatic HM8 engine features a unique purple winding rotor. Check the lateral time display and you’ll notice a miniature white gold elephant situated between the hour and minute prism. The elephant was sculpted by engraver Olivier Kuhn based on the elephant in Cassandra’s drawing. The final touch is a happy face, symbolizing the childlike perspective that Legendre brings to HM8. It has replaced the MB&F logo on the double-screwed plate.

An appropriate variation keeping the auction in mind. The base for all this good karma is the regular MB&F HM8, a 49-millimeter watch in white gold and Grade 5 titanium.
The MB&F HM8 (Horological Machine 8) is powered by an in-house developed bi-directional jumping hour and trailing minute indication module, on a Girard-Perregaux base movement. The movement is inverted to put the winding rotor on top and it is modified to drive it.
First launched in 2016 as the adrenaline-laced ‘Can-Am’, Horological Machine No.8 is the latest evolution of the heads-up time display. A display that MB&F debuted five years ago with the HM5 ‘On the Road Again’ and subsequently refined in the 2015 HMX. The MB&F HM8 for Only Watch comes on a black alligator leather strap.
