A new MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO called the Silicon Valley Edition again represents a bold evolution in perpetual calendar design. With its shock-resistant construction, innovative mechanics, and distinct style, this watch has something competitors don’t have. It looks cool, it’s pricy, and this time executed in rose gold.

MB&F, founded by Maximilian Büsser in 2005, is renowned for blending traditional watchmaking with a rather radical design. The Legacy Machine Perpetual already debuted in 2015 as a reimagined perpetual calendar. It features a mechanical processor for the perpetual calendar complication, which makes its mechanics different from regular perpetual calendars. The brand’s EVO series, introduced in 2020, enhances the line with a more robust engineering.

A Closer Look at the EVO’s Design and Features

This LM Perpetual EVO Silicon Valley Edition showcases a 44-millimeter case, now in rose gold. Earlier EVO’s are available in materials like zirconium and titanium, like this MB&F LM Perpetual EVO Blue. It features a no-bezel construction, creating an expansive display of all the functions, including the perpetual calendar functions. A domed sapphire crystal provides structural strength while enhancing the legibility of the dial’s indicators.

The perpetual calendar mechanism is visible on the dial side, allowing you to appreciate its complexity. It includes the display of the date at the 9 o’clock position, the day at 3, and the month at 6. Furthermore, there is a retrograde leap year indicator between 7 and 8 o’clock and a power reserve indicator between 4 and 5. On top is a black sub dial showing the hours and minutes.

Key Features of the MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO Silicon Valley Edition

  • Mechanical processor with dial-side perpetual calendar
  • Rose gold case
  • Very domed sapphire crystal
  • Open-worked dial
  • Integrated FlexRing shock-absorbing system

Movement With a Mechanical Processor

The heart of the LM Perpetual EVO is an in-house movement with an integrated perpetual calendar mechanism. Designed by Stephen McDonnell, this “mechanical processor” redefines traditional perpetual calendars. Instead of assuming months with 31 days, it defaults to 28 days and adds days as needed, ensuring accuracy without the risk of jumping or skipping.

This processor eliminates common issues in perpetual calendars, such as damage during date changes. Its safety mechanism disconnects the quick-set pushers during transitions, reducing the risk of mechanical failure. With a 72-hour power reserve, the watch combines reliability with advanced functionality.

This EVO comes with an integrated blue rubber strap.

Pricing of the Silicon Valley Edition by MB&F

The MB&F LM Perpetual EVO Silicon Valley Edition is limited to 18 pieces only, and exclusively available through Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry at The Villa Menlo Park in Silicon Valley, US. Therefore, it only has a price in US dollars, which is 208,000.

So, the price is in the range of more rare models of Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe for instance. Although these brands also have exciting designs and very special complications, the modern domed touch of these MB&F models is something really different.
