This Meistersinger Edition Notre Dame is a special release limited to 70 pieces, created in collaboration with Parisian retailer Ocarat. It is also only available at this retailer, so it might be a good reason to go to Paris for it. And visit the Notre Dame as well.
The watch pays tribute to the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, celebrating its architectural significance and the restoration efforts following the 2019 fire. The watch’s design and craftsmanship aim to capture the essence of this landmark, specifically its rose windows.
Notre Dame’s rose window on the dial
The dial is the 43-millimeter stainless steel watch’s standout feature, as it depicts Notre Dame’s famous rose window, reproduced with impressive detail. This intricate design is complemented by a sandstone-colored dial with a contrasting dark blue sunburst underneath.
The red-tipped single hand allows precise reading of time, in line with MeisterSinger’s focus on simplicity and calm. The rose window motif also appears on the exhibition case back, adding to the watch’s overall visual appeal. But there is more…
Hourly chime function: the sonnerie au passage
At the heart of this timepiece is the MeisterSinger MS Bell automatic movement, which is based on the Sellita caliber SW200. This caliber features an hourly chime mechanism, called a “Sonnerie au Passage.” Over each 60-minute period, the watch accumulates the energy necessary to chime on the hour.
This mechanical innovation is one of MeisterSinger’s unique developments, adding both an auditory and functional dimension to the watch. The chime can be silenced using a pusher above the crown, providing flexibility for the wearer. The movement delivers a power reserve of 38 hours, including the chiming module.
This watch is paired with a cognac-colored cowhide strap, tanned and dyed by hand, giving it a unique and natural finish. It is secured with a traditional buckle, ensuring a comfortable fit. Only 70 pieces will be available.
