The MeisterSinger The Peter Henlein Edition has two hands where you expect just one hand. Because it’s a MeisterSinger. But the extra hand is needed to be certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). This indicates that the watch is tested and certified to meet certain precision standards and therefore can be called a ‘chronometer’. One of these standards is the accuracy of the movement, measured in seconds. That’s the reason this MeisterSinger has a seconds hand. And it is MeisterSinger’s first chronometer.

This new MeisterSinger honors one of the originators of German watchmaking, Peter Henlein. He is often seen as the one who created the first ‘portable watch’. And he might be the maker of the oldest watch in the world, in the year 1505. We’re not sure about that. Neither is MeiserSinger by the way. But the fact that watches only had one hand in the old days, people only wanted to know in which hour they were living, is a nice link to (most of) the watches of MeisterSinger.

The MeisterSinger The Peter Henlein Edition is limited to 15 pieces

The Peter Henlein Edition comes with a 43-millimeter 18K gold case. The white dial with radially positioned hour markers also has a second hour track in the center with Roman numerals. The colors, the hands, the markers, and the numerals make it look like an antique clock.

Inside is MeisterSinger’s caliber MSH01 which can also be found in the Circularis collection. In this Peter Henlein Edition, the bridges are gold-plated. It delivers a 120-hour power reserve and the watch is limited to 15 pieces.
