The new TimeWalker collection from Montblanc draws from the past. Just like about every other watch brand will tell you. Something we should clearly see in the new Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph UTC.
Montblanc bought the old Minerva heritage and factories and uses vintage Miverva’s as an inspiration for their new TimeWalkers. But besides the vintage looking Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Rally Timer Counter Limited Edition, this inspiration is a little farfetched.
It does not mean the TimeWalker Chronograph UTC is an ugly or uninteresting watch. Definitely not. It is one of the more commercially attractive pieces that Montblanc offers. A chronograph with a good movement and some sporty DLC-coated looks without being over the top. A pity the movement isn’t Minerva based.
The Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph UTC doesn’t feature a Minerva based caliber unfortunately
The chronograph of the caliber MB 25.03 measures elapsed minutes and hours at 12 and 6 o’clock as well as elapsed seconds with the iconic red hand in the central position. A dark central hand with a luminescent, red-framed arrow indicates a second time zone on the 24-hour scale of the black ceramic bezel with silvery-white numerals. A third time zone can be indicated by turning the unidirectionally rotating bezel with the location of the 24-hour hand as the point of reference.
The new Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph UTC has also been subjected to the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500. The extensive 500 hours test simulates the first year’s lifecycle of a timepieces. A test that is done on all manufacture pieces.
Montblanc is working hard on its reinvention and positioning as a real watch brand. And they are coming along swimmingly. Be it with innovative complications, their vintage inspired 1858-collection or the revamped TimeWalkers.
